For Lode Runner: The Legend Returns
General
How to get out of a trap
If you get stuck in a trap, you can get out by blasting a hole to your left or right. You can also get out by using a tool. You can spray, throw molasses, use a pickaxe or use a jackhammer to get out when conditions allow.
Walking over a hole
If you use a pickaxe over a hole that is one block deep (that you've either made, or that was already there) you can walk across it. Sometimes you can walk across it even after the rubble has disappeared.
Following a priest up a ladder
Often, if you follow close enough behind a priest up a ladder, he'll continue up to the top. Once he reaches the top of the ladder, though, he'll stop. You can get off the ladder at any place below the top.
Priests changing directions
In many cases when the priests have not made it to the ladder yet, and you are climbing it, they will turn around and walk away. When you reach the top of the ladder, and they haven't started up another one, they will start walking back toward you and the ladder you went up.
Priests walking through blasted holes
If you blast clear a lane from one point to another (by any means), the priests can walk across this lane as easily as you can.
Blasting through the exit
As you go through the exit, you can blast a hole in the ground behind you. As you dive into the exit, just blast in the direction from which you came before you are halfway through. This trick doesn't work if you fell into the exit, climbed a ladder into the exit, or the ground doesn't allow for blasting holes into it.
Changing position on a ladder
On a ladder that is next to a wall, you can change your position. Go toward the wall, and you'll look that way. Now you can turn around and look the other way without falling off. You can use this trick for many purposes; such as spraying befuddlement gas and throwing molasses.
2-Player Mode
A cheat in level 11
At the beginning of the level, player one can run climb up the ladder on the right-hand side an get off at the first stop. If he blasts a hole between himself and the ladder, the priests will go on down past him. Player two should take this time to get the three coins at the bottom. After the priests have passed player one, he can go up the right-hand side behind them.
Killing your friend before he has appeared
If you use a bomb near your friend and he has not appeared yet, he will still die in the bomb blast.
Walking past a trap
A trap is not "set" until the person who placed it moves from that spot (being eaten counts as moving from that spot). Therefore, your friend can pass you while you're setting up a trap, and after you have it set up (if you haven't moved).
Letting a priest walk through a wall
If you're standing in a block of earth that you've fallen through and there's a priest next to you, he can't get in because the wall is there. But you can turn in his direction, and he can eat you. Now he's standing in the block of earth that you were in, and he can go either direction.
Building Levels
Caves
When you put a cave in a level and there is no ground beneath it, you will still be able to walk on it as if there were ground beneath it.
Walking on thin air
In order to be able to walk on thin air, you will have to set up a special situation. You will need a place where there is an invisible ladder one block above the ground that connects two places of higher ground. A priest must be standing at one side of the sunken area. When Lode Runner runs over the priest's head, he will continue on across the invisible ladder.
When you run across the invisible ladders, you will move on your own until you reach the other side of the last ladder. In this case it is inside the molasses covered block at the left side. Lode Runner can move either left or right from there, but he cannot walk across the ladders again because there is no priest to stand on.
